Styling a Dessert Table for my Best Friends Wedding

Wedding season is in full swing and it has me remembering my best friend’s gorgeous rustic wedding last Summer. I was honoured to be her bridesmaid and when she also asked me to do her dessert table for her I could hardly control my excitement! I thought I would share how I put it together, for all you bride and bridesmaids to be!

As well as styling the cake table I was also on the baking, making white vanilla wedding cupcakes, rocky road tray bake and white chocolate truffles to go alongside Hazel and her mum’s homemade brownies, cake pops, chocolate truffles and meringues. It was a dreamy selection of goodies which was the perfect ‘help yourself’ pudding post meal.

I started off by lining the cake table with some vintage linen, using the display steps from my craft fair stall set up to give the table some height. I put more vintage tablecloths on top to cover up the steps, then used a mix of glass and tiered vintage cake stands, spacing them around to give different levels to the cake table. In between the cake stands I used some of my vintage china platter plates to pile up the truffles, cake pops and brownies on, whilst the cupcakes, traybake and meringues filled the cake stands.

To finish it off we added some of my handmade bunting along the front, dotted around some tea lights, a basket of cute wedding napkins and a pile of my vintage side plates alongside the cakes and the table was complete!

Beside the cake table we also done an adorable little cheese board station, in keeping with the rustic theme of the wedding. I used some of my vintage baskets and a three tier vintage cake stand to add height to the table and hold some bread and crackers, whilst the mouth watering selection of cheeses went on wooden boards at the front. Hazel had made the cutest little signs for each cheese too!

The dessert tables were a huge hit and went perfectly with the rustic style of Hazel and Richards wedding reception, which was held in the most incredible teepee marquee tent in an idilic Scottish countryside estate. It really was the most perfect wedding and I enjoyed every minute of my bridesmaid jobs!

Will you be doing some D.I.Y styling at any weddings this year?
